The Oriental Courtyard Villa stands out with its unique interpretation of oriental aesthetics. Jo Zhu believes that true oriental beauty lies in the simplicity of colors, textures, and the play of light and shadow. This villa embraces this philosophy, showcasing plain colors and textures that create a modern yet distinctly oriental atmosphere.

One of the standout features of the villa is the hallway, adorned with two semicircle wooden gratings made of black walnut. These gratings symbolize the Chinese philosophy of square and round, and they perfectly complement the furniture and decorations of oriental style throughout the villa. The result is a graceful, elegant, and ceremonial space that exudes tranquility.

The heart of the Oriental Courtyard Villa is a 7-meter high space that houses the living room, dining room, and kitchen. Decorated with soft white curtains and a silhouette of a forest on the wall, this space creates a harmonious environment that witnesses the different scenes of life. It is a place where time seems to slow down, allowing residents to find warmth and gentleness amidst the luxuriant trees and white walls.

Jo Zhu seamlessly integrates oriental elegance into modern simplicity by combining different materials such as wood, leather, cotton and linen, rattan, glass, copper, and stone. The carefully chosen colors, including olive green, litchi white, walnut black, and iron grey, further enhance the pure, fresh, and elegant atmosphere of the villa. Artworks such as pottery horses, flowers, chinaware, and modern sculptures add a touch of sophistication to the space.

The Oriental Courtyard Villa is located in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China. Completed in September 2018, it is a testament to the designer's meticulous attention to detail and professionalism. Balancing the exterior, landscape, space, soft furnishings, furniture, and artworks required abundant experience and expertise.

This exceptional design by Jo Zhu has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020.
